{"id":69,"date":"2014-08-15T22:53:04","date_gmt":"2014-08-15T22:53:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sharonroffman.com\/prinzproject\/?page_id=69"},"modified":"2020-03-18T15:35:20","modified_gmt":"2020-03-18T15:35:20","slug":"what-is-a-concerto","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/sharonroffman.com\/prinzproject\/i-will-not-remain-silent\/what-is-a-concerto\/","title":{"rendered":"What is a Concerto?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A concerto is a musical composition featuring a solo instrument accompanied by an orchestra.\u00a0 It is usually divided into movements (movements are like the chapters of a book) that often have different moods and tempos (the speed of the music.)\u00a0 A typical concerto has 3 movements, in a fast-slow-fast structure.<\/p>\n<p>Here are two of my favorite violin concertos:<\/p>\n<p>American violinist Joshua Bell plays the violin concerto by Ludwig van Beethoven with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.\u00a0 (The Beethoven is in three movements.\u00a0 They are titled 1.\u00a0 Allegro ma non troppo \u2013 this means, loosely, \u201cFast but not too much.\u201d 2.\u00a0 Larghetto, which means \u201cmoderately slowly\u201d and 3.
